Marais Legal is a Paralegal advisory service that was founded by Donovan Marais after obtaining his National Diploma in Law (NQF5) from the University of Johannesburg in 2006. Legal matters have always been a passion for Marais; who now offers a Paralegal advisory service to the community, from his private practice in Durbanville, South Africa.
Paralegals are professionally qualified people who have studied in the legal field and are able to work in a legal environment either at an attorney, -or in private practice.
They have a sound basic knowledge of the legal principles relevant to the field in which they are working and as a result can work independently to perform legal tasks.
Paralegals perform various legal tasks & administrative duties to assist attorneys, and also advise & guide clients before they opt for formal litigation.
Currently, Paralegals in South Africa may not represent in a Court of Law. The process of debating and getting this approved, like in the rest of the world - is ongoing.
